009 The Stuff of Myths and Legends
Sunday Aug 26, 2018
Sunday Aug 26, 2018
My guest today is Kai San and this was an impromptu episode that ended up going DEEP! We started off talking about his experiences traversing the underworld with ayahuasca and eventually wound our way into the realms of depth psychology, mythology, astrology, and archetype. It's the subconscious things that drive us and our inner world is inevitably characterized into myths about the deeper human story that we all share.

008 Psychedelic Integration
Sunday Aug 19, 2018
Sunday Aug 19, 2018
Psychedelic integration is the process that takes place after a psychedelic journey and is the opportunity to come to terms with the experience as well as apply the insights learned to one's daily life. It's an essential process but is often overlooked by many people who explore the shamanic realms. Too often we go straight back to our lives or ignore the insights that we've gained from the experience. Today I'm joined by Daniel Shankin from Mt. Tam Integration to talk about the integration process and why it's important, as well as the importance and benefit of ceremony and intention around the use of these substances.

007 Ayahuasca - A Cautionary Tale
Monday Aug 13, 2018
Monday Aug 13, 2018
Ayahuasca and the medicine path can provide tremendous opportunities for healing and growth but a person can also find themselves in harm's way if they're not careful. Today I bring you the experiences of Jesse Klein, who sat in over 100 ayahuasca ceremonies over a 3 year period. He tells of the highs and the lows, but in particular how he found himself overextended and depleted after such a focused time on the medicine path. I relate my own story as well, which is similar to Jesse's and so many other people I know. It's very easy to get caught up in the highs of ayahuasca and want to keep going faster and faster, higher and higher. We share some of the wisdom gleaned from difficult experiences and learning the hard way.

006 The Man With No Name
Sunday Aug 05, 2018
Sunday Aug 05, 2018
My guest today is The Man With No Name. He goes by Nanashi, which is Japanese for "no name," and he is a cultivator and exporter of psychedelic plants. This episode was recorded in Chiang Mai, Thailand when I was there in March 2018. Nanashi is an ethnobotanist and studies the relationship between people and plants. He has been nurturing his garden in Thailand for the last 15 years and I got to speak with him about his experiences with these plants as well as tap into the knowledge he has acquired through extensive study. He was willing to speak to me under the condition of anonymity, due to the fact that he puts himself at personal risk by doing the work that he does. We covered a number of subjects, including the benefits and dangers of datura, his experience gathering and eating peyote with the Huichol people, and a different way to make ayahuasca by using the leaves instead of the vine.

He's also an administrator on the website http://www.sharetheseeds.me/
Intro music is classical music from Northern Thailand

This is the first of two episodes I recorded in Asia. Tune in next week when I take us to Thailand to speak with an ethnobotanist who started a business there growing psychedelic plants.

003 Healing and Self-Understanding
Sunday Jul 15, 2018
Sunday Jul 15, 2018
Chronicles of a Psychonaut is about much more than psychedelics. It's really a platform for story telling. At one point I realized I have a lot of very wise friends with incredible stories that have largely gone untold. These are regular people with extraordinary experiences in the realms of visionary plants, sexuality, healing and trauma recovery, community building, etc. This podcast was created to be a repository for these stories from people like you and me. Have a story to tell?? Let me know!
Today's episode features Denell Nawrocki. She tells her story of how she healed herself from HPV and cervical dysplasia without the invasive methods used in Western medicine. She now helps educate other women on how to do the same. We also talk about sexuality and the 3 types of orgasm a woman can experience, the benefits of meditation, co-dependency and unconscious manipulation, and even a bit about American history. This episode was originally recorded back in February. We had a fascinating and in-depth conversation and I think you'll enjoy it.
Denell Nawrocki, MA is an Educator, Speaker, Guide and Facilitator specializing in women's health and earth-based healing. She believes in the body's ability to regenerate and guides others to connect to their body to find empowerment in self-healing.
Since 2010, Denell has done extensive study in the fields of health, healing, personal transformation, indigenous wisdom, plant medicine and history. All of this culminates in her mission to lead people to be in loving relationship with their Body so as to repair the Sacred Web of Life. She received her MA in Integrative Health Studies from Calfornia Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), and a BA in History from UC Davis.

002 Cacao, Ayahuasca, and the Medicine Path
Monday Jul 09, 2018
Monday Jul 09, 2018
I am joined today by Sena Shellenberger, who organizes cacao retreats to help people get in touch with their emotions and open their hearts. She left her job at Google to pursue an interest in plant medicine and the healing path. In this episode we hear her story and experiences with cacao and ayahuasca. Cacao is the raw form of chocolate and has been used by indigenous people in Central and South America for thousands of years. It contains an alkaloid related to caffeine called theobromine, which is stimulating and increases blood flow in the body. It also helps people get in touch with their emotions, especially those related to the heart.

001 Introduction to Ayahuasca
Saturday Jun 30, 2018
Saturday Jun 30, 2018
Chronicles of a Psychonaut is about personal growth and the psychedelic experience. Human beings have been altering their consciousness since the beginning of recorded history, be it with caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco, or psychedelics such as marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, or recent chemicals like LSD. Come and listen to my real life tales of peering through the "doors of perception." We will delve into the insights and wisdom gleaned from the experience as well as the dangers and hard lessons.
This episode is an introduction to one of the most powerful psychedelic plants, the Amazonian medicine known as ayahuasca. I am joined by my friend Lauren Pittman to help describe the experience and we discuss the pharmacology, aspects of the ceremony, and the overall spiritual experience. Please enjoy, and I welcome your feedback and interaction on social media.
